Longsleeve - The Waterfall

$30.00 USD

This digital garment features Wassily Kandinsky’s painting The Waterfall (1909). Kandinsky painted The Waterfall at a turning point when he was transforming his naturalist landscapes into the abstract compositions for which he is best known. The painting was inspired by the German countryside of Murnau, near Munich. The bold color palette of The Waterfall pays tribute to the French Fauvist artists whom Kandinsky admired on his multiple stays in Paris from 1904 to 1906.

About the artist:

Wassily Kandinsky (1866-1944) was a pioneer of abstract art. He was born in Moscow, spent his childhood in Odessa, where he graduated at Grekov Odessa Art school, and lived in Europe, mostly in Munich and Paris. According to the artist, nature gave him the main impulse for creativity, but he didn’t see the point in copying it. Instead, Kandinsky used the emotional color sets of nature that created compositions and forms in a combination of planes and lines, and gave movement to his paintings.
