Melisa Cilli is a fashion and 3D designer based in London. Her debut collection for DressX “Lunar Travellers” imagines the possibility to travel anywhere, unconstrained by the normal limits of our reality. The collection was inspired by Anatolian garments and the geometric decorations of Anatolian art. Most of the decorative art elements of ancient Anatolian civilizations come from the Moon and the stars. The designer splitted the Anatolian geometric artworks into their elements and merged them again, giving her digital garments a modern twist and developing a collection in which you could travel to the Moon and stars.
Cepken is a cropped jacket with form that originated from function; the open sleeves would protect your arms from the sun but leave them free and cool. This Anatolian design has been reimagined with sleeves of silk chiffon that exude opulence without confining your body.
The pattern on the sleeves is called “Çintemani” in Anatolia and has its roots in Buddhism, it symbolises the three jewels of Buddha and the stripes of a tiger. The three jewels cannot exist exclusive of the others, and all are required for spiritual liberation; and the tiger stripes symbolise power and strength.
