Piet Mondrian (1872-1944)
Piet Mondrian is a Dutch painter known for being one of the pioneers of 20th-century abstract art. Mondrian kept changing his artistic direction from figurative painting to an increasingly abstract style, until he reached a point where his artistic vocabulary was reduced to simple geometric elements.
Composition of this art work consists of rhythmically arranged coloured areas, but in the following years Mondrian stops featuring movement and depth in his paintings and uses only red, yellow and blue.
