James Mack's work is often exploring ideas of sustainability, inequality and the environment. Each of these pieces is inspired by the elements earth, air, fire and water. From there the designer wanted to consider materials, forms and styles that felt like a natural fit for the element. Though he has referenced the elements before, these are James' first pieces specifically exploring natural disasters. This could be the lightness and lack or gravity in TURBINEUS (Wind) or the oil slick material of DILVIUM (Water).
